44 | Snowmobile VERMONT Club News about those people that go out and cut the brush back so the groomer can get through? Then there are the trail trustees that sign the trails and make sure that the trail is ready to go at the beginning of the season. We also have to thank our sponsors who, year after year, show us their support by buying a sign on our board. The other group that needs to be thanked are the great bunch of volunteers that are out there ready to go out and do whatever is needed to keep the club firing on all cylinders. Keep in mind that we are always looking for more volunteers who would like to help. If you would like to get involved, start by calling one of the officers listed on our website. Once again, thanks to everyone that helped this year. However, it appears it’s turned around for March and beyond. The Stump Jumpers held their World Famous Pig Roast on March 3 which was very well attended. Thank you to the over 90 members that drove or rode in for the pig roast. Our snow angel, Dan Kotowski, watched over today’s pig roast. It was his favorite day when he was the chef years ago. Thank you to Pastor Doug for blessing riders and sleds. Thank you to “Matterhorn” Joe and Wanda who were our chefs and were up all night cooking. We also thank Mark Zanelli for his famous chili and Barb Yanke’s for her exquisite baked beans. Special thanks to our raffle donators: Barb and Paul Trudeau of Fat City Motor Worx; gift certificates from Valley View Saloon; Mobile Pizza; Mark Zanelli for the Isodi Chianti wine from Tuscany Italy; Marty Kinsman for the maple syrup; Gene Clark, who donated work gloves; and last but not least, Matterhorn Joe’s pork roast! The big winner of DVSJ world famous lottery ticket tree was Barb Trudeau. A huge thank you to our board and their significant others for getting it done. You are the best! Please stay on the trails. Landowners are getting frustrated with riders on their bare property when the trails are closed. It’s no longer a matter of if, it’s a matter of when the landowner will revoke our privilege of riding. Brian Harty, President  dvsj.com  Like us on Facebook WORLD FAMOUS PIG ROAST Derry Sled Dogs It’s been a roller coaster of a winter. Every time we get snow and groom our trails to perfection, Mother Nature throws us a curve and warms up and rains. Our trails have been great at times and not so great at others, but we keep trying. We had our club ride-in on Feb. 17. Our trails were actually in great shape for it. Our turnout was less than expected and we are sure that was due to the uncertainty of the conditions. Still, those that did join us got to meet up, have some food, stand around our bonfire and tell stories with us. We all had a good time. We just got another storm with anywhere from 5–12 inches, and it’s snowing now. We will be out trying
