Late Winter 2018 | 29 Remembrances of Dave Over the years I created a personal toolbox filled with a handful of individuals that had a huge impact not only on my life, but how I approach its challenges. I found it very helpful to find one unique trait from each person and apply it for the best outcome. Dave Page is the most recent addition to my toolbox. I recall numerous references to Dave from the old VAST News, plus club reports from the Brighton Snowmobile Club. The past few years I had the opportunity to spend time with him at the Essex County Snowmobile Club meetings. What captured my attention was his confident approach when discussing concerns or problems. About two years ago I recall a comment from Dave that has been imprinted on my brain ever since. “You can’t just complain about something you do not like and end the discussion. You have to include a way to improve it.” Since then I have been using his approach whenever possible. Yes, might make a few mistakes along the way, but the journey keeps getting better. Thus, so do I. – Mike Mutascio Dave was a great citizen, kind and generous of himself. Very talented man and will be greatly missed! – Beverly Pepin Very sad to hear this. I just met up with Dave on the trail last weekend after not seeing him for a few years. He was talking about how he was ready to “pass the torch on” for his club duties to the next generation. He said he put in 30 years of service and he wanted to enjoy more time on his snowmachine. I have known Dave since I was a teenager. I used to ride with him on weekends and usually one weeknight when my dad owned the former Kingdom Cat. I was even fortunate enough to purchase his ZRT he had meticulously maintained. He was so extremely dedicated to this sport and had the most passion overall then just about anyone I had ever met. His smiling face will truly be missed. – Chris Halpin So very sorry to learn of Dave’s passing. He was a dedicated snowmobiler in the purest sense. Dave will surely be missed. The trails in the Northeast Kingdom won’t be the same without him. – Rudy Chase Condolences to the family of Dave, to the Brighton Snowmobile Club, VAST and to his snowmobiling family throughout the state of Vermont. You will never be forgotten and the Northeast Kingdom Snow Blasters thank you for your dedication, commitment, and never ending efforts to improve the quality of riding in the state of Vermont! Rest in peace. You will be missed by many. – David Diminico Sr. This is a huge loss for the VAST family and for the community. He did so much for the sport. Thanks, Dave, for all you gave. May your trails be well groomed and your sled always run perfect. You’ll be missed. God speed. – Fred Cota The first time I met Dave was 18 years ago volunteering for the first time. He was one of kind and will be greatly missed. I’m glad I had the honor. – Don Green You will be missed Dave. My condolences to his family and the extended snowmobile community he was so involved with. Dave was a great ambassador for our state and our sport. – Lee Whiting Dave, You will be missed. The community lost a very big person with your passing and you left some very big shoes to fill. Thanks for all you did for the sport of snowmobiling and I will think of you often when I’m at the lookout on the 2000 trail. Enjoy the ride in the clouds now. – Réal Cyr Dave was a great man. You will surely be missed. My best memory of time spent with Dave is when he showed up to my home in Island Pond with a truck full of reclaimed wood and helped me rebuild our secondary trail bridge over the Clyde River. He always had a big smile on his face. Enjoyed riding with him on the trails and hope that he can ride the clouds, full throttle, forever and ever. Ride in peace. – Frank & Michele Talarico
