Late Winter 2018 | 31 S BENNINGTON COUNTY winners of $2,500. Thanks for buying your ticket every year. The calcutta will be held next year on Jan. 19, 2019. For those who purchased tickets, they are yours next year if you want them. There is still some winter left. Pray for snow. Mary Wright, Secretary Like us on Facebook Woodford Sno-Busters Mother Nature has really been keeping us on our toes this season! We have had some snow throughout the season, yet we have also had more rain than we would like in Woodford. There were a few close calls where we thought we would completely lose our base, then the temperature would get cold just in time. Fingers crossed we end the season with some great riding under our belt. The SnoBusters want to give special acknowledgment to our trailmaster and our grooming crew, for giving the riders on our system the best possible trails within the conditions we had to work with. Sometimes weather, temperature and snowfall are just not appropriate for grooming operations. Disappointing our members always weighs heavily with our trailmaster and groomer operators. They often found themselves making the tough choice to send the machines out on runs that might have given others pause. Our priority is, first and foremost, safety for our operators and the snowmobilers that ride our trails. We can’t thank the grooming crew enough for making sure to give us every possible day of riding that could be coaxed from the conditions! We are happy to say that the ride-in to our maintenance facility in Woodford on Jan. 20 was a great success! Chief Joe Sarzejko of the Southern Vermont Snowmobile Task Force conducted around 40 snowmobile safety checks. It was terrific to share refreshments and great company with our fellow snowmobilers while they checked out our facility and grooming equipment. We do plan to host more events such as this, so stayed tuned to our website or our Facebook page for future events. The Woodford SnoBusters enjoyed another terrific Special People Ride on Feb. 10. This is a favorite event for volunteers and participants alike! What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, sharing our love of snowmobiling and a delicious lunch with people who otherwise might not get to enjoy our sport! Thank you so much to Jeanne and Gene McKenna for hosting 39 volunteers, 13 members of local law enforcement, 70 participants and 30 caregivers/family members. There is an incredible amount of time Logan Marsano and Emily Dion ride the Northeast Kingdom Snow Blasters’ Corridor 102A at sunset on Jan. 27 during Reciprocal Weekend. (Judy Valente photo)
