40 | Snowmobile VERMONT I want to take the time to thank our landowners, as they make all of this possible every year and we truly appreciate their generosity. We have approximately four weeks left of the season and we are hoping to finish out strong. Michael Koehler, President driftdusters.com  Like us on Facebook Club News By Michael Koehler The Drift Dusters Snowmobile Club held it’s annual Winter Bash at Paul’s Sugar House in Derby on Feb. 17. It was one of our largest-attended events, serving over 200 turkey dinners. The grand prize winner was Stephan Isabelle who walked away with a 2017 Ski-Doo 600. The club would like to thank all of the businesses who donated to this great night, the landowners that make this sport a possibility and Paul’s Sugar House for serving a delicious meal. The Cow Palace in Derby hosted an after party and supplied the club with a free DJ. If you want to get on the waitlist for next year’s Winter Bash, please email NEKDuster@gmail.com. Drift Dusters’ Winter Bash Glover Trail Winders It appears that winter has taken a break in the Northeast Kingdom this past month. As I write this, a foot of snow is predicted. Who knows whether it will be enough to get our trails up and running again. Time will tell. We had a very successful poker ride in February. We would like to thank the following businesses that were stops for our 33rd Annual Poker Ride: Bob’s Quick Stop, Craftsbury Village Store, Currier’s Market, Evansville Trading Post, Orleans Village Pizza, The Gap Restaurant and Pub, Parker Pie Company and especially Sweet Harmony that also co-sponsored and held the event. We would also like to thank all the people that supported the event and participated in the poker ride. We are now gearing up for our annual raffle/dinner/dance to be held at Paul’s Sugarhouse in Derby Center on Saturday, May 5. It is a great end of the season get-together. Cash prizes Orleans Snowstormers Greetings from the Northeast Kingdom! By the time you read this, we will be at the end of the season, although it is beginning to look like it has already arrived as I write this. It has been an on/off type of season and I hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy the trails when we did have good riding conditions. The Snowstormers held the 23rd Annual Nicholas Gage Poker Run on Jan. 27. Although trail conditions were thin, many rode sleds and commented that the riding was decent for the conditions. We also had a lot of people who participated driving vehicles. This event is not only for snowmobilers, are $4,300, $500 and $200. There will also be many prizes donated from our generous area businesses. Tickets are $100 for two people. Only 125 tickets will be sold. For more info on purchasing tickets, contact Dale Perron 802-334-2758 or Merle Young 802-525- 6214. We have not set a date for our June landowner’s appreciation barbecue. We will post on the VAST events website as soon as date is confirmed.
