38 | Snowmobile VERMONT Obviously, year-round usage creates more questions and concerns, but we hope to start with snowmobile access and move from there. We appreciate all the cooperation from the Town of Berlin and residents as we explore the thought of re-establishing some trails that once was overseen by the Berlin Wolverines snowmobile club. David A. Rouleau, President barretownthunderchickens.com Like us on Facebook Green Mountain Roamers By the time you read this article, I hope we are all enjoying the nicely groomed trails. As I write this, it is still snowing from the second mid-November storm, and it looks to me like a sign that we are in for a great winter. That is the hope anyway! With bridge work completed for the season and the trails all flagged and signed, we are looking forward to a great riding season. The letters have all been sent for the January raffle, and the committee is in planning and donation mode. Waterbury businesses are very generous to the club, and we are thankful for their continued support. The raffle will be held on Jan. 19 at the American Legion Post #59 in Waterbury. The grand prize will be $3,000, the second prize $500 and third prize is $250. Please contact us through our Facebook page if you are interested in getting on the waiting list for a ticket. Drop in to one of the Roamers monthly meetings, which are held the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m., October – May, at the Waterbury Senior Center. We have a great core group of volunteers currently but are always looking for new faces. Check out our Facebook page for trail updates. Thank you to the landowners who generously allow us to utilize their land for this great sport! Think snow! Washington Snow Flyers Here it is, Nov. 16 and snowing. Looking out the window, it appears to be more like early January. We have had two good snowstorms this week to give 8-12 inches of snow on the ground in central Vermont. Hopefully, it sticks around and forms the base for an awesome riding season. Long range temperature forecast looks like it will stay below normal and into December anyway. Washington Snow Flyers volunteers have been hard at work before deer season to get trails brush hogged and brush cut back. As of the last meeting on November 1, there were still some trails that needed signing, but we had no closures as of the meeting. We have a couple of events planned at the beginning of 2019. The first is the Vintage Rally, which will be held January 5 at the clubhouse located on Lowery Road in Washington. Gates open at 8 a.m., registration at 9 a.m., judging 11 a.m. and awards at 1 p.m. Prices are $5 per sled or $15 for three or more, vendors $10. Admission is free to the public. The second event is our annual raffle and dinner at the Elks Club in Barre. Cocktail hour will begin a half hour earlier this year at 5:30. If you would like a ticket, check the club Facebook page to inquire. We still have advertising space on our trailside board. Inquire on the Facebook page if you would like to buy a spot. Let’s hope for cold weather and snow. See you on the trails, and keep right! Jim Wild, Media Manager Like us on Facebook Club News
