Early Winter 2018 | 13 Trailblazers Corner DO YOU KNOW A TRAILBLAZER? Applications are accepted all year and may be filled out online or downloaded in PDF format at vtvast.org/awards.html. David Bibens has been involved in snowmobiling for over 50 years. He is currently the president of the Hawks Mountain Ridge Riders but has also held the officer position of trailmaster in the past. He started grooming in the mid 1970s. David groomed 12–13 hours twice a week for over 40 years. Grooming was truly a passion for him. He was first in the area to get a Tucker and proudly has a picture of it displayed in his home. David introduced Barry Messer to grooming many years ago and it is obvious that David was and still is a mentor and friend to Barry. David retired from grooming in 2015, which was a very difficult and unwanted decision he had to make due to medical issues. He has snowmobiled all over the state of Vermont through- out the years, and he continues to ride and remains actively involved with the club. His sled has been modified to meet his current needs. As he told stories of the past, he chuckled and smiled the entire time. Sandra Bibens has been volunteering since the 1990s.
