We have members who are business owners who volunteer their equipment, manpower, and resources to get the big jobs done. We have landowners who allow the use of their land, clean the trails for us, and some even sign their own land. Local dealerships often field calls for the club, answering questions about trails, conditions, and overall concerns. You all truly make this sport possible! Dusty the Penguin (club mascot) has already been seen on the tails, staking with Director Brandon Phillips and volunteer Scott Bianchi with their youngsters’ assistance. One of the upcoming goals of the Drift Dusters is youth engagement and creating a position for up and coming youth to learn the ways of trail maintenance and overall club responsibilities. Glover Trailwinders The Glover Trailwinders had their monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 14, with 11 members present. The following officers were elected: Merle Young, Sr., president; Dale Perron vice president; Logan Perron, secretary and treasurer; Merle Young and Russell Velander, trailmasters; Jim Rodgers, grooming. Donations were approved for a local charity and for an outdoor educational organization. Our groomer is serviced and ready to start grooming. TMAs are available for sale at the following businesses: Currier’s Market, Glover; E.M. Brown and Son Barton; The Parker Pie Company, W. Glover; and Rodgers Country Inn, W. Glover. TMAs can also be purchased through our website, www.glovertrailwinders. com. For the first time, we are setting up to sell early TMAs at the Willoughby Gap Pub and Restaurant in Westmore, on Sunday, December 2, from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. We will also be available to show people how to use the VAST interactive map and will have maps for sale. There will be food available. The Gap is also hosting a craft fair that day. Remember that Early Bird TMAs are only available for purchase through December 15. November 16 and over a foot of snow on the ground. Is this going to be an old fashion winter or not? Stay tuned for the next five months and find out! I am sure many other clubs have been caught like us. All the last-minute trail preparations and now we have to deal with snow. By the time you read this, hopefully all will be ready and we will still have all this snow on the ground. We have been busy with trail preparation and several new landowners to deal with, including one last-minute property transfer. Hopefully all will be OK. We held the 24th annual Give-Away and Dance on Oct. 20. Congratulations to Bonnie and Larry Dwyer, winners of the $5,000 cash and also to Jennifer Perron on winning the runner-up $400 cash prize. Many thanks to all who donated the many other prizes given away and to all who worked to make this event possible. Thanks to all the ticket buyers. Our next event will be the Nicholas Gage Poker Run to be held Jan. 26, with $500 cash for first prize with other prizes to be announced at the final stop. This event is open to everybody; you do not have to be a snowmobiler, and you do not have to do the run by snowmobile. This is for all the people in our communities to get out and enjoy a winter day with family and friends and maybe go home with $500 cash.
