Early Winter 2018 | 31 Club News businesses! We would like to thank VELCO for allowing us to place this on their lands. David Diminico, Trails Coordinator & Groomer northeastkingdomsnowblasters.com Like us on Facebook Cold Hollow Bearcats The Cold Hollow Bearcats have had a busy summer and fall season getting ready for the snow. Two major water crossings in our trail system have had the bridges re-decked, and another has been upgraded with new railings. Taking advantage of available VAST grants has allowed us to have about two miles of really rocky, rough, and washed out sections of our trail system repaired, along with adding five new, wider culverts to make grooming and riding much smoother. Trail signage has been updated with road and town information included to make knowing where you are much easier. Both our Pisten Bully and Bombardier groomers have had repairs made and are fully serviced, ready to maintain our “2018 Most Improved” trail system. Our club has continued to grow and mature. Officers have been elected for all positions and updated bylaws adopted. We now have a presence on Facebook and recently added updated information to our VAST club site. As always, think snow! Baxter Weed, Vice President Like us on Facebook FRANKLIN COUNTY Franklin County Snow Raiders Hopefully when we all read this, there will be snow on the ground and we will be ready to ride. Our club is working with a smaller group of core members this year but hopes that this will change in the next year or so. Every person has something to bring to the sport of snowmobiling, whether they are young or not so young. Our president, Sandy Badger, is doing the job of treasurer as well. Neither position is new for her, as she has held all of the officer positions at one point or another along with county offices. Kevin Mitchell is holding the office of vice-president. This is also not a new position for Kevin. He is still holding down his section of the trail and is looking forward to being at the county meetings. Lianne Frechette is our secretary this year. Being an officer is new for Lianne. However, she has had many years of experience through her work and has been riding since she was a toddler. To finish out our slate of officers, Kevin Badger is filling the trailmaster and grooming manager positions. These positions are not new to Kevin, either. He is working to ensure all landowner permissions have been received and that all of our trails are ready to be ridden. If you have questions or are interested in spending time helping your club, our meetings are the first Tuesday of the month at the VFW on Lake Street in St. Albans at 7 p.m. We are planning our holiday dinner for our December meeting. This is always a good time with some great food, and I expect this year will be no exception. Who knew that snowmobilers can cook as well as make beautiful trails? Wishing all safe and Happy Holidays. See you on the trails! GRAND ISLE COUNTY Alburg Sno-Springers As I write this, it is mid-November, and the ground is starting to freeze. We are still awaiting permission from two large non-resident landowners. A property transfer has caused a reroute, which puts us on a short section of road. For the first time in many years, our trails last year were road-free. Easy come, easy go. Ongoing construction at Alburgh Dunes State Park has caused us to close that section of trail for this season in the best interest of all involved. It has rained almost every day since early October, and we are behind on signing. Rain has also delayed harvesting of some crops, so it could be a while before we have access to those lands. On the positive side, we have built a 26-foot bridge across a drainage area at the Reynolds Farm. Thanks to all the volunteers who made this happen in The Alburg Sno-Springers built a new bridge at Reynold’s farm.
