20 | Snowmobile VERMONT HISTORY The Lyndon Sno-Cruisers snowmobile club was registered with the Vermont Secretary of State’s office in 1968 by Lyle Day, Pat Nelson, William Gould, Paul Aubin, and Alcide Bessette. The club groomed over 100 miles of trail back when it was organized, going to Barton along Duck Pond Road and grooming another trail by the Lyndon Outing Club. Gordan Eastman did the grooming in his Tucker. Today our trails (51, 52, 53, 54, 512, 513, 54A, and 52A) cover the towns of Lyndon, Wheelock, Burke, Kirby, Sheffield, Stannard, Greensboro, and Sutton, with 60 miles groomed now. This network of trails is designed to radiate from Lyndonville, our core community. We accomplish this by grooming with a 1996 Tucker, purchased from Burke Mtn. Resort, and a 2002 BR180. During the 1990s, a tremendous project of trail widening ensued. Ride-in fundraisers to President Pat Nelson’s and snowmobile raffles provided funds for this project work. VAST conventions, which these early members attended, were held during the spring. Lyndon Sno-Cruisers Snowmobile Club of the Year By Larry Dwyer
