Oh and my mistake, but one slight change on the vast, can you please put quotes around that review I had you put on that ad, since I am quoting a customer, thanks, please resend the vast as pdf if that is what is calls for forwarding and also jpeg, thanks By Mark Reaves As everyone knows, the hard work of maintaining a snowmobile trail system of the size and quality that we have in Vermont can be a thankless task. Once a year, we honor and thank those who work so hard to provide us all with a top-notch riding experience. This year, several Washington county clubs and their members were recognized at VAST Annual Meeting for the excellent job they do. Best Groomed Trails went to The Mountain Tamers. The Effort Award was given to Tom Clark of the Mad River Ridge Runners. Jamie Sheltra, Brian Boudreau, Caleb Ainsworth and Kelly Ainsworth of the Green Mt. Roamers received the Patience Award. President’s Award was given to Mark Reaves, Washington County Director and Barre Town Thunder Chickens member. We can’t say “Thank you” enough to all our clubs and their volunteers. It may sound cliché, but it really is true: without you there would be no snowmobiling in Vermont. WASHINGTON COUNTY SNOWMOBILE CLUBS VAST News The Washington County Snowmobile Club held its annual election of officers on Nov. 5. The following is a list of our officers and directors for the 2018/19 season: President Jeff Halpin, Mad River Ridge Runners; Vice President Steve Gray, Mountain Tamers; Director Mark Reaves, Barre Town Thunder Chickens; Secretary Scott Lange, Sno Bees of Barre; Treasurer Howard Danyew, Track Makers. Our current trails coordinator, Doug Wilson of the Mad River Ridge Runners, was not able to attend the meeting so we postponed the election for this position until December. Doug would like to continue in that role. We would be remiss in not thanking the outgoing officers for all the time and effort they put in for us. A big thank you goes out to Past President Dave Spooner, Twinfield Snow Travelers; Past Vice President Bob Stewart, Worcester Rangers and Past Secretary Chris Temple, Worcester Rangers. As you may know, if you buy your TMA from a club in Washington county it costs $15 more than the TMA itself. Of that $15, $12 goes to the club for club dues and the other $3 are county dues. Our county uses those funds for projects meant to enhance the riding experience across the county. In the past we have bought snowmobiles and a trailer for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, annually set aside funds to pay for police coverage of the trails system, bought a rescue sled for Barre Town EMS and the rescue service in the Waterbury/Stowe area and subsidized the purchase of VAST approved intersection signs for all clubs in the county. We have also helped pay the expenses related to the annual safety course given by the Barre Town Thunder Chickens, provided funds for emergency trail and bridge projects and funded a weekly trails report that was broadcast on a local radio station. As you can see, your $3 goes a long way. If you have suggestions for projects in Washington county that you would like to see funded, please contact us or your local club. We would love to see if we can help.
