Early Winter 2018 | 21 GROOMING For several years the groomer (BR180) was kept at Gould’s Well Drilling. Then the 1996 Tucker was added. To keep the machines repaired, the shop at Gould’s became known as The Clubhouse, for which John Gould was presented a plaque made by member Rick Ringgard. Larry Dwyer remembers riding in the groomer with John Gould Jr. leaving Lyndonville at 5:30 p.m. We groomed trail 52 to Sheffield, then 51 to Ramsay Corners, and then 513 to Greensboro Bend. As we went, John removed several large rocks that were in the trail. We arrived back in Lyndonville at 4:30 a.m. TRAIL SYSTEM Important stops on our trail system include Every Buddy’s Casual Dining and Nick’s Gas ‘N Go in Lyndonville, Wheelock Store in Wheelock, Smith’s Store in Greensboro Bend, Wildflower Inn in Lyndon, NEK Country Store, Burke Publik House, and East Burke Market in East Burke. Tamarack Grill at Burke Mtn. Resort is also on our trail system. A historic feature on our trail system in Lyndonville is the Sanborn Covered Bridge, where many snowmobilers come for pictures. A key project on trail 52 was a two-year riprap project to keep the trail and a bridge from washing down the Passumpsic River, thanks to landowners Peter Millett and Gary Calkins allowing Mike Bickford Excavating to do a super job. Another project which Neal Switser completed on trail 52 was redecking a bridge that had floated down the Passumpsic River a few years before. A work that is still in progress involves a trail from Corridor 52 to Northern Vermont University (Lyndon.) At present it is 3/4 complete. This came about because some students contacted the Lyndon Sno-Cruisers since they wanted snowmobiling possibilities from campus and other students lived off-campus and wanted to snowmobile to classes. A past officer in the club, Bob Jauch, developed a good reroute for the trail. There are other projects, but Corridor 513 comes to mind since we took it over from another club and decided that it needed to be improved so that the groomer could go through to Greensboro Bend. It is now an enjoyable riding trail with nice views. TMAS At present, the club TMA sales equal 276 and, with the 14 volunteer TMAs, total 290. Our goal is to get back to over 400 which the early years of the club had. We send email forms to members to print and renew their TMAs. Club of the Year
