Winter 2018 | 43 Club News snowmobile trails. A huge shout-out goes to our volunteers who always seem to get the job done and are proud of our little club. While we are a small club, we strive to give everyone a memorable ride along some of the most scenic and best-groomed trails in the NEK. Our trail system lies within the towns of Lowell, Westfield and Albany in Orleans county. We have added two “comfort stations” along our trail system. One is in Lowell on Corridor 100 where we park our PistenBully groomer and another is in Albany Village behind the fire station next to Corridor 14. We hope these two new stations, along with our permanent outhouse on Corridor 14 in Albany, will make your trip a more comfortable snowmobile experience. This year has started off as the best in memory. The extremely cold weather that began just after Christmas and continued into early January has set up a rock-hard base that should easily carry us through April. The big storm during the first week in January blessed us with 12 inches of fresh powder that was worked into some fantastic conditions for so early in the season. Our club has our monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month at the Lowell Fire Station beginning at 6 p.m. Please join in on any of our meetings or work days. Every club in Vermont needs more active members, and we are no different. Have a great snowmobile season! Ride safe and ride right. Join a club, and volunteer a day or two. Give a “thumbs up” when you see a groomer and pray for snow! Orleans Snowstormers Winter is back with early season snow and cold frigid weather! Yes, this is winter at its best. We hope the weather pattern continues as the season progresses. Our groomer operators have been busy establishing a hard base to provide snowmobilers with a satisfying riding experience. A quick reminder that we have seen off-trail riding. The only legal place to ride is on the trail! Please stay on the trail and help protect our trail system. We have also seen stakes and signs that were run over. Folks, those stakes are to establish the legal area to ride in and they are very important to guide the groomer operators when we have a stormy night of grooming and for the safety of snowmobilers in general. Please be mindful of these signs. If you run one over by accident, please take the time to pick it up and stick in the snow and notify the club so we can replace it if we can. “Stop” and “Stop Ahead” signs are the most important. You can check our website, Facebook and the VAST interactive map for latest trail conditions. You can also call us at 802-334-6179. We would love to chat with you. Regular Season TMAs and club memberships are available at Bob’s Quick Stop in Irasburg or from our secretary, Gloria. The new 4-Day TMA pass is also available from Gloria and we are also a VAST registration agent. Call or e-mail for an appointment.
