The wind storm roughed up our trails, but it was no match for a few chainsaws. Unfortunately, our trail from Essex Center to Richmond is closed due to new landowners. Hopefully, something can be worked out for next year. Trails still connect to Mallets Bay, Williston and Cambridge. We held a landowner appreciation dinner at the Essex Grange Hall in November that was well attended. Memberships are available at Frank’s Motorcycles, Land Air, Roadside Marine and Vermont Home and Marine. Mazer’s Performance is relocating to Bolton and we wish them all the best. It was amazing to see the ponds and streams frozen over so early this year. In December, our club sponsored a snowmobile safety course for anyone born after July 1, 1983. However, we are happy to report that there were several adults that joined the class. It never hurts to brush up on some of the rules and tips for riding safely. Our instructor, Reg Theroux, reported that it was an excellent class and everyone passed. A big thank you goes out to him. Congratulations to some of our new riders and to some of the adults as well. We were sorry to learn that one of our club’s longtime members, George King, passed away in December. He was a great supporter of the club and was even a winner of the snowmobile at one of our annual dinner raffles. George was a frequent visitor to our Welcome Center and will be greatly missed. ready to go and is looking to see a little more action this year. It sure seems to be tough to get snow here in Chittenden county.
