Winter 2018 | 33 winds. If you have not been out, please start riding and enjoy. The club has invested in another brush bar and it will be installed this coming week. This one piece of equipment has been a huge help keeping our trails debrushed and now we will have two. Years ago, we were easily sold on this concept. We bought a used Tucker from Gene Bowen that had a single edged blade mounted on the side of the brush guard. After grooming a particular trail multiple times, we could gradually see how this could work on a larger scale. We have a trail closure on a section of Corridor 51 between CA 38 and CA 74. This is not a permanent closure and the landowner is working with us to reroute the trail. Due to extenuating circumstances beyond our and the landowner’s control, the construction of the reroute is delayed. We will keep you posted. Time to go groom and ride! David Pastula, Director Like us on Facebook Hardwick Sno-Flake Ridge Runners Our groomer has been serviced and our new rear camera is on, giving us a better view of the drag while we’re out. All trails have been covered several times. With all things considered, the trails could be worse. One more good storm and we’ll be in great riding conditions! We’ve had some beautiful evenings out on the groomer so far. Thank you to our operators! Randi Hall, Secretary Like us on Facebook The Hardwick Sno-Flake Ridge Runners have a new rear camera on their groomer. Lyndon Sno-Cruisers The Lyndon Sno-Cruisers have had an interesting beginning to our snowmobile season. All of our trails have been staked and signed. Trees and debrushing has been done. Corridor 512 is closed on Calendar Brook Road, but it is groomed to Route 5 to assist the snowmobilers who live along the trail and support our club. The shiny blue snowmobiles have each been out on the trails and enjoyed the early season conditions. Then they hibernated for a week. As everyone realizes, the arctic cold wave that arrived caused a few issues with diesel fuel jelling, thus requiring special treatment to get groomers running. Everything is back in operation with the equipment. Our trails experienced many trees down because of the snow and wind as we started the Christmas holiday season. We held our Ride It To Win It event on Feb. 3. Burke Publik House helped us with the event again this year. The Lyndon State College Snowmobile Club did a great job putting on this event. We want to thank everyone who participated and received the prizes provided by Monster Energy. Our second event, our Annual Poker Run, is coming up Feb. 17 from 10 a.m.– 5 p.m. First prize is $400 cash, with part of it donated by Every Buddy’s Casual Dining. The 10 participating stops are listed on posters throughout the area, on our club website and on the VAST website under events. Please also see our Facebook page. You can go to any stop and start the poker run. Pay $5 per 3 by 5-inch card played.
