We do have a landowner closure on our 2F2 trail from River Road to EX 69. There are also several logging operations in Lunenburg. Be on the lookout for moose activity on our spectacular Corridor 102 power line trail. The Corridor 2 pipeline is shaping up nicely, plus we were informed that permanent bridges will be installed in the bog. Preparations are underway for our Annual Hot Dish Buffet on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Lunenburg Elementary School. This event celebrates our landowner relationships and is also a fundraiser for the club. The Polar Bears “Ride to the Roost” will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 on Corridor 102 / EX 62. As I write this, our trail system is in awesome shape with By Kimberly Lampert “NEK Girlz”Sonia Koehler, Melissa Benson, Karen Nelson and Kim Lampert show their winnings from the Northeast Kingdom Snow Blasters’Second Annual Calcutta held Jan. 13 at Time Out Tavern in Canaan. The cold temperatures did not stop people from coming out to the club’s largest fundraising event, as over 150 attended. The big winners were Steve Burg with a $250 prize, Tommy and Michelle Charest with $750 and The“NEK Girlz”won $2,500! The NEKSB would like to thank all who purchased tickets and attended and the local businesses who sponsored this event with a wide variety of prizes. Special thanks to Dave Santamaria and his staff of Time Out Tavern for the glorious food spread that was served! Club President John Hull and Groomer Dave Diminico, Sr. kept the crowd entertained throughout the evening. Mother Nature has dealt us a bitter cold few weeks here with temps to 30 below and dangerous wind chills. We were also able to offer opening day riding here on our trails, thanks to some good snows in our upper locations and just enough to create early riding conditions in town. The Chez was packed with smiling opening-day riders and it was great to see. Our trail system has been groomed since opening day with lots of you taking advantage of our mission statement, which is to provide you with the best possible trails to ride.
