42 | Snowmobile VERMONT ORLEANS COUNTY Country Riders  Our 2017/18 season had a grand opening, as our 2018 Tucker Sno- Cat steel track arrived. It was put to immediate use and it went out to groom Richford Mountain. Our groomers have been out almost 24/7 getting our trails ready to ride. On Jan. 6, members, families and friends braved the elements and came to the American Legion in North Troy for a turkey dinner to kick off the season. A great time was had by all. There were lots of lucky raffle prize winners. Our Annual Poker Run was the next event on Jan. 20. Mark your calendars for our next few events: Feb. 10, Annual Bon Fire at Tetrault’s; March 3, Bon Fire at Merrill’s and April 21 for our annual Spring Fling. Watch our Facebook page for details. Country Riders would like to wish everyone a very happy new year and a 2017/18 season to remember.  Kathleen DiCarlo  Like us on Facebook Drift Dusters Snowmobile Club  I am happy to report that, as I am writing this, we are in full swing up here in the NEK in the first few days of 2018. If you had no access to a calendar, I could tell you it was late February and you wouldn’t hesitate to believe me. Our groomer is rolling near nonstop after the recent snowstorm and we have reports of excellent riding out on the system. The Merrill Masher brush cutter on our drag has been working nonstop which appears to be doing an excellent job getting rid of the whips.  On Jan. 4, the Drift Dusters held their annual meeting where Directors Ed Jenness, Scott Jenness, Rich Connolly and Tommy Charest were voted back into their positions since their three- year terms had come to an end. The club is grateful to have their continued service. We added a new director, Tyler Bonneau. Welcome to the club! I would like to thank Hugh and Nick Flynn for their years of service to the Drift Dusters. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication to the club and its members. I want to remind everyone that the 2018 Drift Duster Winter Bash and Landowner Appreciation Dinner will be held on Feb.17, so make sure to buy your tickets you had last year. This has been a sold-out event, so if you want in on the fun, please contact our TMA Membership Coordinator Alta Jenness at Walt’s Sales and Service to be placed on the waiting list. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Second Annual NEK Poker Run on March 2. The final stop will be in Derby at The Cow Palace. While you’re there, make sure to check out Drift Duster TV in The Cow Palace. If you have any Drift Duster trail photos and or photos of your riding crew in the Cow Palace, please email them to the club and we will make sure that you will be on our TV in The Cow Palace.  Michael Koehler, President driftdusters.com  Like us on Facebook The Drift Dusters have a new feeder trail to Morgan Country Store. Glover Trail Winders  The Glover Trail Winders has all its trails open as I write this in early January. Provided we have snow and cool temps, both Jim Rodgers or Mitch Brousseau groom every day except Wednesdays. We received the snow we wanted to open the season and people started riding. Then the minus temps and high winds lingered for two weeks. Hopefully, we can now return to great snow, mild temps and enjoy the riding. We cannot thank our over 140 landowners enough for allowing us to ride on their property. Please respect these landowners’ property and stay on the trails. Every time someone goes outside the stakes, they are jeopardizing our trail system. We are looking forward to a couple of our yearly club activities. First is our Feb. 10 Poker Ride. Check our website and local paper for the stops. Our fundraising raffle, dinner and dance will be held at Paul’s Sugar House in Derby on May 7. We have three great cash prizes and several donations from area merchants. You are always invited to join us for our monthly meetings held the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the home of Merle Young, Sr. Meetings usually last an hour and a half with great refreshments. Get involved and volunteer! Ride safely and think snow!  Nancy Rodgers, Club News Correspondent  glovertrailwinders.com Hazen’s Notch Snowmobile Club Our loyal members and volunteers have been very busy this fall and early winter! Since early September, we have rebuilt a total of five bridges along our trail system, along with the never-ending job of debrushing, maintenance, staking and signing our 46 miles of beautiful northern Vermont
