Bob took on this position last season and has done a great job. We are happy to report that our early bird TMA sales exceeded last year’s numbers. Our two snowmobile safety classes, one each at Enfield Motor Sports and Hunter Ski-Doo, were well attended. Special thanks to Patty Companik, who continually updates our Facebook page which has brought us more volunteers for our work days. These volunteers are being more active in our club, made evident by the attendance at our annual business meeting and Christmas potluck dinner. She has posted “save the dates” for our events and lots of pics from our work dates. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for constant updates and details for all our events as we keep adding more opportunities for fun. Just a reminder, our snowphone number is 802-875-6550 and is continuously updated by Dick Jewett. Joan Choiniere, Club Secretary chestersnowmobileclub.com Like us on Facebook Ludlow Side Hill Cronchers We were so happy to actually have riding in December for the first time in years. You could see the enthusiasm by the volume of people on the trails over the holiday week. Let’s hope that the season continues to give us snow. Please note that the East Lake Road feeder trail is closed. We have permission to ride on East Lake Road and up Pettiner Hill Road to get on the main trails. We are still pursuing alternative trail options. However, as of this writing, we have not had any luck. If you still need a TMA, you can get a form from our website and mail it in or get them online at VAST’s website. We also truly appreciate the following Ludlow locations for helping us to sell TMAs: NAPA, Benson’s Chevrolet, Ludlow Insurance and The Ludlow Country Store. Pop by one of those locations and they can help you out. Please support the businesses that volunteer for us by shopping with them when you can. Remember there is free hot cocoa and a cozy woodstove at the Warming Hut if you’re cold on the trails. It’s on North Hill at the intersection of Corridor 127A and 127B (WR 82). Our website and our Facebook page will let you know if any events are being planned there. You can also check out the webcam to see what snow is out there and trail conditions. This year, our snowmobile safety course had 21 students and several adults in attendance. This brings the total number of students given the course by our club since we started in 2002, to 439. Good job everyone! As reported at our December meeting, our Charitable Donation Program is going along well with many very appreciative recipients. This program is only supported with a small percentage of the funds we earn at fundraisers such as barbecues, raffles and golf tournaments. Individual donations, dues, grooming funds, etc. go into the trail system. As always, thank you landowners, businesses, volunteers and members for supporting the club. Without you, we would not have anything. Think Snow! Tina Berge, Chief Information Officer sidehillcronchers.com Like us on Facebook In Memory The snowmobile community has lost a longtime member and friend, Betty Lemire. Betty suffered complications during surgery and passed away on Nov. 27. Betty was an avid snowmobiler until recent years. If she wasn’t riding her snowmobile with her husband, Dennis, she was baking or scooping ice cream for various events. When Betty did stop snowmobiling, she still registered her machine and supported VAST. This also allowed her only grandchild Oakley to exercise her machine! Snowmobiling was in her heart Remembering BETTY LEMIRE By Barbara Holmes whether she was riding or baking. Besides supporting her local Brownsville club, Betty also supported other clubs in their various endeavors. She attended most annual meetings and always remained involved. Religiously, Betty packed a lunch for her husband when he was out grooming or participating on a work detail. Betty, wife, mother, grandmother and friend will be missed by all that were blessed to have known her. Although short in stature, Betty’s heart was immeasurable. Club News
