We held a very successful 4th Annual Pasta Dinner and Blind Auction on Jan. 7. We are very grateful for all of the community coming together with great donations for the auction and very happy to have all that attended! This dinner is our main fundraiser of the season, but keep track of us on Facebook and be on the lookout for our BBQ Ride-in near WR 55. Signs will be on Corridor 12 in the near future! We like to have this event when the weather and trails are just right, and it seems to work well for volunteers and riders alike. Keep in mind that this event is also a drive-in location so anyone can attend! We have been out clearing trail and installing more signs since we have had a rough start to the year with many downed trees and some logging operations. Please keep this in mind when passing through and ride cautiously. There have also been some trail reroutes this season. We have been blessed with snow so far this season and the forecast looks bright! As always, ride safe and enjoy the view! We hope to see you out there! Sean Snyder, Trailmaster Like us on Facebook WINDSOR COUNTY Sean Snyder starts the bidding during the blind auction at the Andover Mountaineer Snow Raiders 4th Annual Pasta Dinner. Cavendish Green Mountain Snow Fleas We had another great turnout for this year’s Christmas Party! As in the past, the Yankee Swap was very entertaining with several folks vying for the same gift. Jennifer Stowell only had to use her “teacher voice” once or twice to get the group back on track! There have been changes to two of our trails: Corridor 127 now follows the power lines from Twenty Mile Stream Road through the quarry to the intersection of Corridor 12 (WR 44). Corridor 106 has been reopened. The new route goes from Joe’s Bridge on Brook Road, through forested land to Atkinson Road, left onto Atkinson Road for approximately 4 tenths of a mile, right onto Moriglioni Road for approximately 4 tenths of a mile, and then back onto the original Corridor 106. We are continuing to investigate possible options to get this portion of the trail off of the roads. Signs and flags mark the location changes on both Corridors. Please obey the signs, stay on the trails and be respectful of our landowners. Without their generosity we have no trails. We’re sure other clubs join us in asking Mother Nature to please send more snow! Karen Marini, Secretary cavendishsnowfleas.com Like us on Facebook Chester Snowmobile Club We start our article with the very sad news that our friend and trailmaster, Dick Bigwood passed away two days prior to Thanksgiving. Dick was well known to all and earlier this year was awarded VAST’s Founders Award and featured on the cover of Snowmobile Vermont magazine. He loved spending many hours just tinkering on and maintaining our Tucker and grooming our trails. He will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Chester Snowmobile Club. We want to thank the family for their thoughtfulness as well as those who honored Dick by giving generously to the club. On a happier note, we had snow even before the season opened on Dec. 16. In our area, we got 8 to 10 inches of snow on Dec. 11 but had to wait until Dec. 15 to open gates and start grooming. In addition to the snow, it was nice and cold which firmed everything up. We would like to thank all our loyal members who purchased their early bird TMAs using VAST’s online system, through our website or at one of our sales agents. Special thanks to our sales agents: Enfield Motor Sports in Enfield CT, Chester Hardware, Fullerton Inn, Benny’s Motors and Stone Hearth Inn all in Chester, Vt. and NAPA in Ludlow, Vt. Last but not least, we appreciate all the hard work The Chester Snowmobile Club 2016 Christmas Party was very well attended.
