I had a report come in that some parts of Vermont do not have trails open due to lack of snow, even after all of the hard work getting the trails ready. The shiny blue snowmobiles have enjoyed the trails until one decided to have an issue. After replacing the MPEM box and reprogramming the key, it is back ready to ride again. A major concern the snowmobiles told me about was observed as we rode. The Lyndon Sno-Cruiser team that was mentioned in the last issue worked hard to mark the trails with green flag stakes. Your VAST TMA only gives you permission to ride between those stakes. A couple of landowners are watching to see how well snowmobilers are respecting their property, leading to the decision to keep the trail next season. Where those locations are located, there is no alternative. On Feb. 4, the Lyndon State College Snowmobile Club and the Lyndon Sno-Cruisers hosted a “Ride to Win” Ride-in. Riders registered at the Burke Publik House and then earned points at other stops. Riders then returned to the Publik House where they enjoyed a barbecue, entertainment, prizes and a 50/50 draw. Prizes included a snowmobile helmet, 2017/18 TMA, sweatshirt, backpack and other prizes. Our Annual Poker Run will be on Feb. 11 from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. You can snowmobile or drive to any of the stops and register for $5 per hand. Stops include EveryBuddy’s Casual Dining, Nick’s Gas N Go, Wheelock Store, LynBurke Motel, The Gap, Mike’s Gas & Redemption, K T Ray’s on the Pond, Lakefront Express Mart, NEK Country Store, East Burke Market, and Burke Publik House. After five stops, choose to play the sixth draw option for $2. When finished, turn in the registration cards at NEK Country Store, Lakefront Express Mart, The Gap, or Every Buddy’s Casual Dining. There is a $400 cash first prize, snowmobile gear and gift certificates for the remaining four prizes. Social time is from 5-7:30 p.m. at Every Buddy’s Casual Dining with prizes awarded about 7:30 p.m. Check out our four billboards that advertise the many businesses that support our club and snowmobiling.
