I hope that summer has treated everyone well! It looked very promising a few weeks ago with the snow fall we had received, but the only bummer was the snow left us as fast as it came. On Oct. 1 the Weathersfield Pathfinders helped the West Weathersfield Volunteer Fire Department serve a spaghetti dinner to benefit 21-year- old fire fighter Levi Parker who was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. Firefighter Parker needed to receive a bone marrow transplant to help combat this disease. He recently received that bone marrow transplant thanks to a young lady in Germany. All proceeds from this benefit dinner helped with the traveling costs that he and his family accrue as they make their weekly trips for Levi’s checkups in Boston. After all 160 meals were served and raffles were held $3,500 was raised to help out this young man’s courageous fight. Recently we have begun to get ready for the upcoming snowmobiling season. The Tucker is in Trailmaster Kevin’s shop and it has received a new windshield, a thorough greasing and all fluids changed. The drag is next to come in and will receive a good look over for any broken welds. One of the cutting bars is going to be reattached. Seasonal trail work has begun as we speak. Crews have been out trimming downed trees and brush that has grown in over the summer, as well as brush hogging all road crossing and around bridges. Shortly the high bridge in Perkinsville that we use to access the store at Downers Four Corners Store will have some rotten planks replaced and new runners attached. Come join us on Feb. 18 for our annual poker run! Sign up will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Come explore our 30 miles of beautifully maintained trail system. After the poker run, join us for a BBQ of burgers and dogs with many other good eats. Our BBQ is by donation only. This is an event you don’t want to miss out on. We will have many great prizes along with a 50/50 raffle. Our groomer will be present for kids to check it out and see what it’s all about, so don’t forget to mark those calenders! Do those snow dances! Seth Kimball, Vice President weathersfieldpathfinderssnowmobile- club.webs.com Like us on Facebook
