Buckaroos of 302 The Buckaroos of 302 have started off the season with some productive trail work thanks to our great core of volunteers. We kicked the season off by redecking the bridge by the old sugarhouse on the 2004 trail. Rotten hemlock decking was removed one weekend and then redecked the next weekend with pressure treated 2x6” lumber to hopefully double the lifespan of this current decking. A gate was installed by Gary and Buzzy on the new Sprocket trail, between the state land and the landowner’s property. This is a new trail that we had built last season, but received little use due to lack of snow. We had a trail reroute by Route 2 in Cabot that was completed in one day, thanks to Matt Puffer. We would also like to thank the landowners for being very helpful and cooperative with this last-minute project. There was another bridge on the 2004 trail by Buzzy’s road that needed to be repaired. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped, despite the poor weather. We decided to make a temporary fix and will replace the bridge next fall. We’ve had some minor setbacks with our six wheelers this fall. One needed the rear hub bearings replaced and another needed a new timing chain and gears. Thank you to Gary and Kevin for performing the repairs, though it might be time for some newer models! The Buckaroos have started to make plans for the 40th Annual Dick Page Ride-In to be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Groton Town Garage located Work crew members for the Buckaroos of 302’s 2004 Trail bridge are David Bazzell, Willis Page, Kevin McDonnell, Gary Lamberton, Buzzy Eastman and Taylor Lamberton.
