VAST Trailblazers are members who have served their club as active volunteers for 25 years or more. They may be club officers, trail workers, groomer operators, fundraisers, and some or all of the above. Volunteer service may be extended to the county level, and in some cases, as VAST officers, committee members and volunteers at VAST sponsored functions. The recipients of the Trailblazer Award receive a special name badge and a framed certificate signed by the VAST President and Executive Director. In addition to recognition in Snowmobile Vermont, one Trailblazer is chosen annually to receive the prestigious Founders’ Award at Annual Meeting. Since the inception of the award, we have recognized 25 VAST Trailblazers: Dale Allen, Howard Allen, Francis Berwick, Gracia Berwick, Richard “Dick” Bigwood*, Marshall Bowman, Ernest Choquette, Don Glover, Roger Haskins, Raymond Heath, Richard Jewett, Wendall Mansfield, Dave McFadden, Rachael McFadden, Alan Towle, Sandy Towle, Paul Racine, Gwen Racine, Norman Roark*, Raymond Rodrigue, Conrad Stewart, Mike Westine, Dexter Willson, Lucille Willson, and Merle Young, Sr. As you read this list, we hope you are thinking of members of your own club who should be included. Applications are accepted all year and may be filled out online or downloaded in PDF format. The link is www.vtvast. org/awards.html. Let’s keep the ball rolling and recognize these valuable friends of snowmobiling in Vermont! * Recipient of Founders’ Award SEND IN THOSE NOMINATIONS FOR Trailblazers’ Corner By Dave Ladd VAST News
