This is a special year for the Canaan Border Riders as we are celebrating our 50th year serving our community and the snowmobilers from all parts that come to enjoy the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We are nearing completion on our complete overhaul of trail system signage. More than 70 new signs have been installed at each intersection in our network, which is no small undertaking. Special thanks are in order for our new trailmaster, Richard Poulin, who has dedicated a great deal of time and effort to this project with assistance from Dan Johnson, Pat Gorman, Mike Daley and Roger and Lise Vincent. As always, its the volunteers that make things possible and we truly have a dedicated group. We are extremely excited to now have first rate signage to match our excellent trails and we hope this will help make riding in Canaan safer and more accessible for everyone this winter. Some work on bridges and debrushing trails is also underway, but there is always more to do and we love welcoming new volunteers who might be interested in lending a hand and enjoying some time outdoors. If you want to get involved, please attend one of our meetings on the second Thursday of each month at the Northland Restaurant. You can check out our Facebook page for planned work weekends or give Kyle a call at 603-233-7692. We’d love to have you! Our annual Christmas party was held on Dec. 10 at the Northland Restaurant. It is always a fun occasion and a great way to celebrate the holidays and the start of snowmobile season with members and the landowners that make it all possible. Pat Gorman and Dan Johnson of the Canaan Border Riders install new signage as November snowfall blankets the ground.
