LUDLOW SIDE HILL CRONCHERS BLAST OUT 4 EVENTS IN 3 WEEKS
By Tina Berge
The Cronchers had a blast
of four great events in three
straight weeks. What a fun
way to wrap up the season.
Good times were had at
each of these events, and we
are grateful to all those who
attended, volunteered, and made it all
happen! Events were:
Feb. 21 – Co-hosted our Safety Check
Day/Ride-In with the Snow Fleas
at the Cook Shack. Two fantastic
club events and food at one location!
Special thanks to game wardens Tim
Carey and David Lockerby, and to
Stan Choiniere, VAST Safety Officer,
for their help! Over 50 sleds were
inspected.
Feb. 21 eve – Glow-In at the Hut. Our
second Glow-In was lots of good
times building snow creatures and
decorating them with glow sticks.
We had a campfire and s’mores,
and creativity abound. At night we
watched the creatures come to life.
Kids of all ages were the stars.
Feb. 28 – Groomer Barn Wet Down
Celebration celebrated our Groomer
Barn built summer 2024 and our
new groomer. Lots to be grateful for,
especially the extraordinary donations
of labor and materials by many and
to the Hideaway for allowing us to
take up some space there. A beautiful
dedication sign was made by Green
Mountain Sign & Graphics in Ludlow.
The words on the sign sum it up
perfectly. The barn is a true reflection
of what we can do together.
March 7 – Bridge Dedication in honor
of Bruce Ingerson. Bruce was a long-
time friend, dedicated Croncher, and
had snowmobiling in his veins. Bruce’s
favorite place was on the trails. We had
a dedication at the bridge followed
up by some food and camaraderie
at the Warming Hut. It was a very
special event with a great turnout
despite foggy, misty weather. We were
thinking of postponing, but we knew
Bruce did not hang with any wimps,
so we went ahead. Worked out great!
The fog actually added a mystique
and surreal feeling which was perfect.
Bruce’s wife, Tuula, made a cake that
was a replica of the bridge. Perfect!
End of winter doesn’t mean we stop
having fun. Next up!
April – Landowner dinner.
Landowners will get an invite in the
mail.
June 26 – Golf tournament at Fox Run
in Okemo. More details coming as we
get closer.
We are blessed with a community of
volunteers, landowners, members,
fellow clubs, friends, town officials,
and businesses who support us. Each
one of you are essential to us keeping
our sport going. Thank you!
