Fall 2018 | 5 VAST News A message from VAST Vice President Jeff Fay What a fantastic fall Saturday for the 51st VAST Annual Meeting! A huge thank you to all who attended and the Clubs of Franklin county and the Alburg Sno-Springers (Grand Isle county) for hosting. It was such a scenic riverside setting and The Abbey‘s new building was a perfect fit for the day. Congratulations to all of our award winners. These recognitions were very well deserved. A special thank you to Patty Companik and the awards committee for the new streamlined format. All those awards were handed out in less than an hour. I’m sure it was a record accomplishment! I’d like to also give a shout out to the VAST staff for registration, presentations and everything else they did and do on a regular basis. I would like to sincerely thank Tim for presenting me with the Carmi Duso award. It was very much unexpected and I was honored and humbled by the response from the audience. Thank you to all. Also, I look forward to serving another year as VAST vice president. The end of September starts the “show season” with the Syracuse Big East Powersports Show and almost every weekend for the next month in N.H., Maine, Pa. and Mass. in November. Hope to see you at one of them soon. Please volunteer a few hours for a club near you or where you ride. Help is always needed and appreciated. Think Snow!! – Jeff Fay, VAST VP FIND THE HELMET Larry Dwyer of the Lyndon Sno- Cruisers was the randomly selected winner from last issue. He wrote in, “With safety a concern, you chose the picture of the Newport City Police Department showing their leased snowmobiles on page 13. The helmet is on the door below the mirror of the police cruiser on the bridge to Gardner Park at the Newport Centennial Celebration.” We are so glad Larry was finally selected. He has found the helmet in every single issue since this contest started! For your enjoyment, here are some other great replies that we received. “Obey the laws and always wear your helmet.
