Whether its participating in hosting a Polaris demo day at a club sponsored poker run, donating items to club events or hosting safety courses at their business location, they are always willing to lend a generous hand when it comes to the sport of snowmobiling. Avid riders, Dale and her husband, Bob, can also be seen enjoying the trails in Vermont during the riding season. This year’s 2018 Dealer of the Year is Enfield Motor Sports. CARMI DUSO AWARD The Carmi Duso award is presented to someone who has given and continues to give selflessly to the snowmobiling community. This year’s recipient fits just exactly what this award was meant for. He has taken on all the tough tasks when asked, even when it was out of his zone of comfort. He has done an incredible job updating our policies and bylaws according to the board’s recommendations. He chairs the personnel committee, trails committee and bylaws committee, sits on the finance committee and he is currently our VAST vice president. This year’s recipient of the Carmi Duso award is none other than Jeff Fay. DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR You ever come across one of those people who is just so full of life, excitement and always ready to go? This year’s Director of the Year is one of those people. He doesn’t waste a minute and is always ready, whether in his personal life, serving his county or sitting on the board. This person has the ability to see big picture and the willingness to go the extra mile to make things happen. His energy and creativity are to be admired. This year’s Director of the Year Award goes to Curt Marechaux. OFFICER OF THE YEAR In one’s lifetime, the number of people one meets is innumerable. Out of that number, only a few will make a lasting impression. This award recipient is one of those unique and impressive people. He has been snowmobiling for more than 50 years. He collects and, whenever possible, shows his antique snowmobiles. During that time, he has created an extremely impressive VAST resume serving as county president, president for several local clubs, VAST director for three years, VAST vice president from 2007–09, VAST president from 2009–13, VAST secretary for three years. He has also served as a long- standing trustee for the Vermont Snow Trails Conservancy. While supporting VAST in these many capacities, he also is a Vermont small business owner. He is also very involved in his own local community and has held various leadership positions there too, including the Williston Planning Commission. A man who gives of himself consistently, Jim Hill is an extraordinary person and this year’s choice for Officer of the Year. OUTSTANDING LOCAL ORGANIZATION Several students of this university had gone snowmobiling prior to attending the university and enjoyed it, but the university didn’t offer a snowmobile club for them and other students to share this common interest.
