We lost the engine on the Ranger the first day, but Dave let us use his UTV to finish the trails. It took close to two weeks to get it done due to the weather. We have also replaced the deck on the bridge in the Jeffords State Forest. The next project is a trail relocation out of the Notch Road parking lot, and I do believe it will be done this year! We are almost there. There are a few water bar issues that Dave will address and some more hand debrushing in areas that the tractor can’t get to. Don’t worry; our trails will be ready on opening day, Mother Nature permitting. Dad and I have started working on the groomer maintenance. We have the wheels off that need bearings or the wheels themselves. With that said, it was unfortunate that we started that because Shrewsbury had a parade the next Sunday and our club president, Mike, wanted the Tucker in it. Dave improvised and we used his Snow Coach on one trailer and his two sleds on another trailer. With a Sno-Birds sign and two American flags, we looked very presentable. Scott Ballard was a big help pulling this together at the last minute. Mike would have been there helping but he had a last minute medical issue. We hope that he gets well soon! The Snow Coach was a big hit with the children! I will post on the VAST web site the time and location of our Safety Course as soon as possible. Buy your Early Bird TMA and save money. It is insurance that the trails stay open! Volunteer to help your local club. We need as much help as possible and hope to see you on the trails, summer or winter!
