The first round grooming payment totaled $7,363 and covered grooming between December 14th and January 17th. For comparison there were a total of 51 clubs/contractors that received a first round grooming payment at a cost of $110,727 during the winter of 2014-2015. There were not any second round grooming payments this season as there were no clubs grooming much mileage. This payment would have covered grooming activity for weeks 6-10 (January 18th through February 21st). There were 97 clubs/contractors paid a second round grooming payment at a cost of $756,023 during the winter of 2014-2015. The third and final grooming payments (subsidies) were mailed out to clubs/contractors that had submitted all 16 of their grooming log sheets along with their financial analysis on April 28th, 2016. Ten rounds of payments were sent out altogether, in subsequent weeks, as clubs/contractors submitted their paperwork. The final and 10th round of final payments was sent out to clubs/contractors on 7/14/16. There were two clubs who did not submit their grooming log sheets or financial analysis by the deadline and as a result will not receive their grooming payment this season. The total amount paid for the third round of grooming payments was $788,209. A total of $1,071,050 was paid out in grooming for the winter. All 113 clubs and contractors received a grooming subsidy. This is the first time this has ever happened. The subsidy amount paid was $964,287 as there was $106,763 in grooming actually completed along the SSTS this winter. The fleet of grooming equipment logged only 9,291 miles during the winter of 2015-2016 as compared to 167,464 miles during the winter of 2014-2015.
