This was the first year of the Trailblazer Awards, which recognizes our long-term volunteers with a framed certificate and a name badge, along with being highlighted in a special section of Snowmobile Vermont magazine. We received 25 nominations this year honoring men and women who have provided the backbone of the Vermont Snowmobiling Community for anywhere from 25 to 50 years! There are many more who deserve to be nominated in the upcoming year. Forms are available on the VAST website. VAST Scholarships were awarded to Austin Weed and Emily Vosburg. It’s always a challenge for the committee to choose only two recipients from the many qualified applicants, and this year was no exception.We are very proud to have so many young people and their families associated with VAST, and we congratulate our two outstanding scholarship recipients. We are in the process of perfecting a revisedapplicationformwhichwillbeonthewebsite this fall. Moving forward, we will accept nominations from the membership for the Groomer of the Year Award. As a committee, we unanimously agreed with our Trails Administrator that officially opening the nominations to the clubs and riders will help to bring to light some of the groomer operators who may have otherwise been overlooked.
