Area towns, West Fairlee, Thetford, Strafford, Fairlee, Post Mills,Vershire got together to decide to start a local snowmobile club. UVSP was inc. December 3, 1970. 57 members attended the first meeting. At that time club dues were $4.00 - &2.00 going to the club and $2.00 to VAST. A committee of 3 from West Fairlee were appointed to approach land owners that are concerned about snowmobilers. They were Stuart Bacon, Bill Doyle & Bruce Mann. Jay Southworth and Gene Smith were appointed in Post Mills. The club decided to do a fundraiser and a chicken BBQ was planned. 2016 marks the 45th year of the Annual Chicken BBQ.
