Thank you to the volunteers for your time and dedication to helping make the Vermont trail system a safe and enjoyable place.
With being mindful of volunteers and your time, VAST will be continuing with an online format for the 2024 Spring Construction Course called Canvas. This is the same online format used for the 2023 course.
An eNews was emailed to all VAST clubs to the club email address on Friday, April 26 with an introduction for the 2024 VAST Spring Construction Course, as well as a follow-up email on Wednesday, May 1.
The course can be completed in the comfort of your home on your computer, smartphone or tablet (or iPad) at a time that works best for you. The course can be completed within a couple of hours and has options to stop and resume later. If a club doesn’t have access to a computer, smartphone or tablet (or iPad) for the course, they are welcome to contact VAST to complete the course onsite at the VAST office or they may go to the library. Attendance will be taken throughout the course. Weekly updates for the course progress will be sent to clubs as well as certificates of completion.
The Spring Construction Course includes brief videos on topics such as an Overview of the VAST Website, Grooming, Landowner Communication, Club Resources, Signing, Equipment Grant-In Aid & Construction Grant-in Aid, Debrushing and more.
Once a club has completed the course, VAST will review it to ensure all quizzes and modules have successfully been completed. Weekly on Fridays throughout the month of May, eNews updates will be sent, as well as course completion certificates emailed to clubs.
All participants who completed the course by Friday, May 31 will receive confirmation of completion and a certificate to the club's email from VAST. Chainsaw Safety & Operation training completion certificates will be emailed to clubs the week of Monday, June 3, after the course has concluded.
The Spring Construction Course will be available to clubs beginning Wednesday, May 1 with a deadline of completion by Friday, May 31. Information and Resources will be available to the clubs after the course is completed. Attendance will be taken throughout the course. If no one from a club completes the course including the Chainsaw Safety & Operation section, the club will not be eligible for any VAST Grant-in Aid in FY25 and will not be in compliance. Weekly updates for the course progress will be sent to clubs as well as certificates of completion.
There are no make-up options.
If you don’t have access to a computer, smartphone, or tablet (or iPad) for the course, you are welcome to call VAST at 802-229-0005 and schedule an appointment to complete the course onsite at the VAST office.
