Merritt Budd is a familiar face when it comes to snowmobiling in Vermont. He has worked with the Bird’s Eye Snow Travelers for over 30 years, serving as club treasurer, and attending nearly every work project, including signing, bridge building, maintenance and brush hogging. Merritt’s quiet diplomacy has served his club, county and VAST admirably. As the Rutland county director, he managed many relationships, resolved difficult issues and piloted Rutland County through hosting the 2016 VAST Annual Meeting. Merritt appeared on several TV interviews about snowmobiling and did an outstanding job. He more than earned the prestigious Director of the Year Award in 2016. Stan Choiniere has been snowmobiling since his youth, joining the Mount Abe Snow Sports in 1973. He has been volunteering ever since. He is currently president of the Chester Snowmobile Club, after having previously served as vice president and secretary. He is a director of the VAST Land Trust. Stan is a certified safety instructor, and has taught over 1,500 new snowmobilers since 2002. He organizes and runs club events including an annual poker run and fundraising raffles. When not participating in administrative functions, Stan is out on the trails debrushing, building and repairing bridges and general trail construction. He has generously donated materials, not only to his club, but to others. After Hurricane Irene, Stan arranged a donation of 10,000 screws to VAST for rebuilding.
