On February 7, 1971, thirty-five interested families attended the first snowmobile meeting at the Universalist Church in Hartland Four Corners, Vermont. Bill Sumner, of Woodstock, Vermont, who was at the time UVM Extension Agent for Windsor County, was called to help this group form the snowmobile club. Officers were elected that evening. Twenty-two families signed up with the club. On February 14, 1971, there was another meeting to choose the name of the club, set dues, and make future plans.
