It is still summer here in the Champlain Valley, but winter is not far away. I hope that you all will find the time to enjoy Vermont’s great snowmobile trails this coming winter. The amount of work that goes into them every year is very impressive. Take your family or grab a friend or two and go out and ride. Even if you don’t have local snow, good trails are usually not too far away. As always, we have a list of projects to do this fall. You can follow our Facebook page if you would like to help out. Here is a quick summary of what last fall’s trail work entailed. We did a major reroute on 7A “Firetower” in Burnham Woods around the new house that was being built. We also had to do a reroute to go around Middlebury Airport. With the help of the United States Forest Service, we reshaped the trailbed on some sections of 7A “The Ridge Trail” in Goshen where we had a hard time keeping the drag from sliding over the edge. Thanks to the Beavers on Corridor 7 in Leicester, we had to move the existing bridge further up the trail and built a longer one to replace it. We did a trail reroute in Lincoln, plus another last- minute trail reroute in Brandon. We had to move and reset a small bridge on Corridor 7 across from Nop’s farm. Foote of the Mountain Sno-Travelers reshaped sections of 7A in Goshen last fall.
