Summer 2018 | 11 VAST News PRESIDENT - Tim Mills It is hard to believe that it has been a whole year since Annual Meeting, but it has, and the 2018 VAST Annual Meeting is just around the corner. The projects and possibilities never seem to end and are only limited by our imaginations. We barely finish one task, dust our hands off and jump right into the next item on the list. The LVRT is still moving forward, and might I remind you that this project is one of a kind. No other rail-trail rehab of this magnitude has ever been taken on by a non-profit organization such as VAST. The online TMA program continues to be a very successful program. The 2018 trail construction season is upon us right now with local clubs busy completing trail upgrades, bridge projects and trail relocations, just to name a few things. There is still plenty of work to do around the state for this ever-evolving one-of-a-kind organization. I am excited to have been a part of what we have completed and would like to continue to serve the VAST organization and members for another season. With that said, I am seeking re-election as president of VAST for the 2018/19 season. This year’s Annual Meeting is being hosted by the snowmobile clubs of Franklin county. The meeting is a great opportunity to have a voice in the process and we look forward to seeing you all there. SECRETARY - Jim Hill I’m seeking the position of VAST secretary for another year. I’ve enjoyed the last several years serving VAST and its members. I’d feel honored to serve as secretary for another year, and look forward to your vote at Annual Meeting. 2018/19 VAST OFFICER ELECTIONS VAST election season is here! The following candidates would like to earn your vote. VICE PRESIDENT - Jeff Fay It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as vice president for another year, working alongside President Tim Mills, Executive Director Cindy Locke, the VAST staff and the board of directors. As we begin the budgeting process for the season ahead, the health and future of VAST is of the utmost importance. Although we are not seeing growth in membership numbers, the members we do have are loyal, purchasing Early Bird TMAs year-in and year-out without any guarantee of a decent winter of riding. As we look ahead, nothing is certain, but best guesses and history lend a guiding hand in our decision-making process. It would be my privilege to continue as your vice president, working to help plot a course for the future of our sport as best I can. Please contact me with your thoughts on how we could provide a better riding experience for our membership or other concerns you may have. Email: Jfayvast@comcast. net. TREASURER - Sonia Koehler I am seeking the office of treasurer of VAST. I was born and raised in the Northeast Kingdom and have a strong love for snowmobiling. As a child, my grandfather, who was heavily involved in snowmobiling and even has a trail in Norton named after him, made sure that I grew up in the sport. I started on a Polaris Indy and now I am carrying on the tradition by having both my children ride double with me and my husband. Two years ago, I joined the Northeast Kingdom Snow Blasters and currently serve as the club treasurer and TMA coordinator. My husband currently serves as president of the Drift Dusters Snowmobile Club. It has been a pleasure entering back into the snowmobile community and I have enjoyed working with VAST staff and board members. I am seeking re-election of the officer position as VAST treasurer. I believe my ability to work well with others, ask questions when needed and challenge items that may be in the best interest of our membership has provided a solid foundation for what is needed in this position. It would be a privilege to serve as your treasurer for another year. Thank you for your support.
