Winter 2019 | 37 Club News Poultney Valley Snow Devils The last time I was writing this news, the ice was on the pond and snow on the ground but Mother Nature brought rain and and no start to snowmobiling…bummer! Now we have snow and members were able to snowmobile to our 46th Annual Pancake Breakfast that was held on Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Poultney Elementary School. Everyone enjoyed all-you-can-eat pancakes, toast, home fries, maple sausage, eggs, fruit, pickles, coffee, hot chocolate and juice. This was also a “thank you” to our club landowners who attended for free. In December, we had a turkey dinner for our Christmas party. For over 10 years the club has collected a table full of food for the Poultney Food shelf. This is one way we can give back to the community in thanks for their support of our club. We meet the second Wednesday of each month for a potluck at 6:30. Our meeting is at 7 and we usually finish by 8. You are always welcome to come check us out. We had some trees down and think all have been cleared, but we will have to check as we start grooming and riding. Be careful out there on first rides. We also had an emergency reroute on one trail because of sap lines across the trail. This required an excavator, culvert and some fill. We improved the trail and made the landowner happy. Hope 2019 is a great year for VAST, snowmobiling, landowners and all our friends we meet along the trails! Ernie Dematties, Media Manager Like us on Facebook S.A.F.E.
