34 | Snowmobile VERMONT Club News ORLEANS COUNTY Justin Morrill Drift Skippers This fall, the club members have been busy with five more miles of trail rehab, along with three brand new bridges. What looked like a great start seemed to turn into a complete wash out. But Corridor 132 to Thetford is now open again due to some great people at the Army Corp of Engineers. With this trail reopening, the signage has changed. Please be attentive when riding. All trails are ready for snow. Keep doing your snow dance. On another note, we are planning our Third Annual Spaghetti Ride or Drive. It will be on Saturday, Feb. 16, from noon to 5 p.m. Check out the details on our Facebook page. We hope to see everyone in February. Come out and enjoy the trails, warm meal, silent auction items and awesome door prizes. Pray for snow and we will see you on the trails. Mike Mann, President Like us on Facebook Jeremy Kendall, Mike Mann and Dennis Preston of the Justin Morrill Drift Skippers finish the deck on the bridge of Miller Pond. Thanks to Earthworks Excavation for setting the block and beams. Washington Snow Flyers Here it is, the second week of January and winter finally decided to make a return. Now with over a foot of snow on the ground and temperatures below freezing and some below zero, trails are groomed and in good to excellent condition. All trails are open and ready to enjoy. As always, exercise caution as you can’t be sure of what is around the next corner. We had our vintage snowmobile rally on Jan. 5. With about perfect conditions, there were a lot of great antique sleds and spectators to admire the work and love put into restoring some of the old iron. WCAX had a segment on it that you can find on their website. Mark your calendar for next year so you don’t miss it - or go buy an old sled to save and fix up so you can join in on the fun! Hopefully, you can make your way to our area trails and enjoy some great riding and scenery. If you need a place to trailer to, you can park at the clubhouse off Route 110, just up Lowery Road. There is a gas station just down the road in the village. Have a great mid-winter season and as always, stay safe and keep right. Jim Wild, Media Manager Like us on Facebook The Washington Snow Flyers had fantastic weather for their Vintage Snowmobile Rally on Jan. 5. Drift Dusters Snowmobile Club It’s always good to be writing club news when all of your trails are at a five-star rating. This weekend, they are calling for another foot plus, which is awesome! We’ve recently experienced some thefts of signs on our 105D Canada Trail, which is more than bothersome. Thankfully, one of our loyal members has offered to replace them at his cost! OS 4 and OS 74 junctions have all new signage and those connecting trails have turned out amazing. OS 74 allows us access to parking for trucks and trailers by Seymour Lake. Corridor 2001 from OS 4 is a new VAST trail this year connecting 105 directly into Island Pond, riding you close to Seymour lake with excellent views. Thank you to the Juliano family for spearheading Corridor 2001, a true gem in the Kingdom.
