DavidDiminico,TrailsCoordinator&Groomer northeastkingdomsnowblasters.com Like us on Facebook Franklin County Snow Raiders As I am writing this, there is snow on the ground. Yeah! It will stay until the end of March, right?! I am hoping that this will be true, but we know that Mother Nature doesn’t always cooperate. Our club has been very busy getting the trails ready with cutting brush, marking trails and building bridges. We are ready to go and get the riding in. I want to thank a few members who have put some serious time into working on trails this season. Bob Cadieux, Matt Frechette, Lianne Frechette, Real Cyr, Kevin Mitchell and Kevin Badger have gone above and beyond the call of duty on the trails this year. I also want to thank all the workers not specifically mentioned. All of your work is appreciated, no matter how great or small. It takes a village to get the job done and it did get done. Now, let’s get the riding done, too! Our club has purchased an eight-foot- by-twelve-foot shed recently. I am very excited about this acquisition. We are planning to store all of our stakes, signs and equipment inside. I can’t wait to get our stakes and signs organized to make the marking process just a little bit easier. We are also hoping to extend the life of our stakes, signs and equipment by keeping them out of the weather in the summer. Many clubs have larger buildings, but we felt that this is a better fit for our club at this time. Our club is also getting ready for our officer elections on March 5. We have been working with a smaller number of members coming to the meetings this year but the job is still getting done. We even managed a meeting under the stars due to the New Year being on the first Tuesday and an overbooking issue. If you are a member who would like to help manage our club, come to a meeting on the first Tuesday of the month at the VFW on Lake Street in St. Albans or ask an officer. Many hands make light work, and we are all volunteers hoping for a few more members to share the load. I hope to see you at a meeting or on the trail. Happy and safe riding! Sandy Badger, President/Treasurer Like us on Facebook Northwest Riders Happy New Year from your friends of Northwest Riders! We still do not have enough snow to groom nor to open the trails. We are ready and anxious with storms in the forecast. There are some trail changes. Carter Hill trail is closed, but the Lamoille trail is open to go to Swanton and Highgate Springs. There is a closed bridge on the LVRT in Sheldon that is being repaired. We hope to have the bridge fixed this season. It sure would be nice to make our section of the rail bed complete. Corinth Sno-Scramblers Winter was off to a snowy start, but, unfortunately, we didn’t actually start grooming until January 10th. In our downtime, we spent our time dreaming of snow and wrote out an acrostic poem about February and riding on the Corinth Sno-Scramblers trails. Our volunteers used the downtime from the groomer between Christmas and New Year’s to do further work clearing trails. Despite a good amount of time spent clearing trails this fall, we still had many trees that came down during the early December storms. With any luck, there won’t be any ORANGE COUNTY The club has had new intersection signs made that are now placed on the trails. They will be a great help for our riders. We can’t wait to see everyone out enjoying our trails. Please join us on the second Tuesday of every month at The Abbey restaurant in Sheldon at 7 p.m. for our meetings.
