It really does not feel like September as I woke up at 4:30 and it was 73 degrees with 90 percent humidity! I hope that the cooler air comes soon. Our club duties at VAST Annual Meeting included getting the groomers and the large equipment dealers there and set up. Club member Dave Fucci coordinated an antique sled show to be held in a 40 x 60-foot tent with carpet on the ground. The antique snowmobiles displayed ranged from a 1915 Model T with tracks and skis, a 1948 Snow Coach, to a 1960 Ski-Doo of which there were only 225 made. There were Rupps and Arctic Cats, Polaris, Chrysler with one ski, Moto-Skis and more. We thought that it really came out nice. We want to thank all the people that helped with the setup and loading of all the sleds, the carpet guy for seaming the carpets together, the night crew who watched over the sleds, the transportation people and most of all, the owners of the valuable sleds for letting Dave and Rutland county clubs put them on display! My dad has done the cutter bar work and some water bar cleaning on the trail system. We have more debrushing and cleaning of water The People’s Choice Award at the VAST Annual Meeting Vintage Snowmobile Show went to John Schram with his 1915 Model T Snowmobile. bars, but we are waiting for cooler weather. We still have to replace a 50-foot bridge on Corridor 4 and 7 in Wheelerville next month. Our Tucker is all cleaned up and ready to go with a little last minute maintenance that we will do in the next month. It did not get much use last year, but some things still need attention. Matt and Shane from the VAST office came down on Sept. 14 to help see if we could find a reroute out of the Notch parking lot. The area is really steep and we have to go down it to groom. It would be nice we can find something better. When you buy your Early Bird TMA, there is a chance to win a new Polaris snowmobile. You are also helping to keep our trails open by supporting VAST with your membership! Hope to see you on the trails a lot this winter. It is going to be a great one!
