Labor Day weekend saw us complete another successful coed softball tourney so we are all exhausted to say the least. It was once again a great fundraiser for the club and helps keep us up and running for another year. Many thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who helped make it all possible. We are few in numbers, but enormous in the amount of work put out. Our Fall Foliage Poker Run was held on Oct. 1. Anyone interested in a great ATV ride throughout the Northeast kingdom should check this one out next year. It is always a huge success. We are also in the midst of a complete sign replacement project to get up to VAST standards. It is quite an undertaking and involves every intersection in our system. Be ready for some great new signs and hopefully great riding this coming winter. We are all in need of a good one. Until then have a great fall season and hope for lots of snow. The Lunenburg Polar Bears are thrilled. The biggest news is the club’s 50th anniversary. It was announced at the annual Lunenburg Old Home Day in August with a “Summertime Fun” parade float entry. The club’s anniversary celebration was held Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Lunenburg Town Common. Snowmobiling memorabilia, vintage videos and pictures, grooming fleet and snowmobiles were on display. Refreshments were served and commemorative gifts handed out. One lucky raffle winner walked off with a 2016/17 VAST TMA. You will see the Polar Bears on the new VAST club website page. Check in for the latest information about the club, services and events. Be sure to check out the Bearwear Store online shopping experience in October. Our meetings are held the third Thursday of each month during the Fall and Winter. If you cannot attend, simply check in via email or Facebook. It was“Summertime Fun”for the Polar Bears during Lunenburg Old Home Day. the Northeast Kingdom, the Brighton Snowmobile Club and Vermont. We are very fortunate to have Dave as part of our club and we honor him for all he does. Attending Annual Meeting in Killington were BSC members Trailmaster Dave Page, President Richard Fortin, Chuck and Treasurer Sue Purdell, Homer and Janet Selby, and Mark and Rena Ellingwood. We learned of a few changes that will be taking place especially in the area of being able to purchase TMAs online. The Welcome Center in Island Pond will be open weekends beginning the weekend before Thanksgiving for the sale of trail passes and membership. Once the trails open, we will be extending our hours and days for those that do not wish to use the online option. We are staffed by a wonderful group of volunteers that are also able to sell you maps and give you information about the local area. We will again be selling Brighton Snowmobile Club trail passes as well as Vermont registrations for renewals and non-residents who have the proper copies of last year’s out-of-state registrations. We will not be doing registrations on new purchases from a dealer or private sales. These will have to be done at a Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles which is not open on weekends if you want a Vermont registration. Fall is the time when we really begin to get out and work on those trails by signing, brushing, bridge building and anything else that Trailmaster Dave deems necessary. Volunteers are always needed and if you have a day or two that you would like to volunteer, please give Dave a call at 802-723-5041. Dave will also be offering the safety course for riders in December at a date to be announced. Keep checking our website or the VAST website for the date or call Dave to register.
