PATRICKS DAY RIDE-INBy Patty CompanikThe Cavendish Green Mountain Snow Fleas held their first annual St. Patricks Day Ride-In event this year at their Cook Shack on March 5. Trails had minimal snow, but many people were out riding and stopped by the event. There were even a few folks who drove there in order to support the clubs fundraiser. The Irish Snowmobile Blessing (written by Sister Frances Wellington) sign was hung in the eating area and a large St. Patricks Day BRAAAP Banner was on display as well. Many photos were taken in front of each of these signs during the course of the event.People enjoyed burgers, hotdogs, corned beef soup, chips, and a variety of cookies. The majority of the food available that day was donated to the club by members and the club had special order snowmobile sugar cookies made by EM&M Bakery which were almost too cool to eat!The clubs merchandise was for sale during the event and riders generously took advantage of that purchasing opportunity. A 50/50 Raffle was held and Bernie Ellison was the winner of the day!In addition to the many riders and club members who attended, the club had two Windsor county officers stop by (Doug Jacobs, director and Barry Messer, trails coordinator). Also, the neighboring Ludlow Side Hill Cronchers Snowmobile Club president,Frank Companik was the events Grill Master. (Patty Companik photos) John Murphy, and members from their club came out and supported the event. The Cavendish Club president, Joe Marini, was overwhelmed with appreciation from the day.The Snow Fleas hope this event will become a March staple for the area for years to come.Groomer operator, Glenn Fagan, purchases club wear from Janet Wysocki.8 | Snowmobile VERMONT'
