b'Club EventsCorinth Sno-Scramblers First Annual Hot Dog RoastBy Kim DavisIn the early fall of 2019, we were approached by one of our very generous landowners, Ed Laprade, about hosting an event, possibly a hot dog roast, on his property this winter. When I first contemplated such an event, I thought it was pretty fitting. After all, the first memories I have of being active with the Corinth Sno-Scramblers in the mid-1990s were trailside hot dog roasts with one of the founding club members, Craig Trischman. At the next club meeting, I brought the idea up to the other officers, and everyone was on board. Holding an event that combines a classic wintertime snowmobiling activity and bringing together like-minded people to raise money for our club was a great idea! On Feb. 29, we held our first annual Hot Dog Roast on Corridor 5 between OE58 and OE60 at the end of Vance Place in Corinth. This was planned as a completely ideal location, as it was literally right on the trail. However, just days before the event, Mother Nature dealt us a less than ideal weather forecast. With several days in the upper 40s and rain, our trails that were in five star condition, melted away to ice, a very thin layer of loose powdery snow, and bare spots. While there were a couple of overnight snow showers, no more than an inch or two accumulated on a majority of our trails.(Beth Flint photos)Still, the morning of our event, we gathered to set up, with temperaturesCheryl Laprade and family hosted theAt the end of the day when we in the mid-teens to low-twenties.
