b'Club EventsLudlow Safety Check EventBy Patty CompanikThe Ludlow Side Hill Snow Cronchers held their annual Safety Check event on Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Warming Hut on 127A (power lines). We had snow coverage, a blue sky, and sun that was shining bright that day. The club served hot dogs, drinks and snacks for anyone who stopped by. Over the three hours, approximately 100 sleds went through the safety check process. While there, I met a young lady who just got her snowmobile license in December when she turned 12 years old. Sammie Jackson was out on her very first official ride driving a sled! Im not sure who wasSammie Jackson, age 12, receives her safety sticker and inspection.(Patty Companik photos)more excited about it, Sammie or her uncle, Dan Ellen, who is a member of the Cavendish Green Mountain Snow Fleas.Windsor County Sheriffs Department Deputy Tabatha Manley took the time to review with Sammie in detail how the safety check is done. She showed her how she checks the lights, brakes, registration, VAST pass, and insurance and how all the numbers need to match. Once inside the Warming Hut, Sammies paperwork went through a final approval with Windsor County Sergeant Raymond J. Herb. Once she received her safety sticker, Sammie rode off with her uncle and her dad, Greg Jackson. After the safety check event, we went a few minutes up the trail to the Ludlow Pinnacle Rock Overlook. It really is a stunning view from there. Wow! doesnt do it justice. If youre in the area, make sure you check out that view!12 | Snowmobile VERMONT'
