b'VAST NewsCHESTER & ANDOVER LANDOWNER BARBECUEBy Joan ChoiniereAs we all know, landowners are critical to the snowmobile trail system in Vermont. On June 12, the Chester and Andover snowmobile clubs joined together and hosted a barbecue to thank their landowners for generously giving us permission to have a portion of our trail on their property.About 80 folks enjoyed a beautiful sunny day and a lunch of burgers, hotdogs, sausage and pepper grinders, and array of salads, fruit cup and desserts. It was a great opportunity to show our appreciation and get together in person. It was a good old-fashioned barbecue with everyone sitting at picnic tables eating and talking. We are looking forward to doing it again next year after another snowy winter riding season. Snowmobiling on the property of others is a privilege that can be revoked at any time.Dedicated Club volunteers work yearround to obtain permission from almost 10,000 gracious landowners who are kind enough to allow the use of their land for snowmobiling.Maintaining these permissions and the future of the VAST trail system depends on your actions. Please respect landowners by: Staying on marked trails Properly disposing of trash Obeying signage Keeping noise and speedto a minimumRespect the landowners and ride responsibly!10 | Snowmobile VERMONT'
