The weekend before the first big storm, we were out clearing downed trees and broken branches cause by some high winds and icing. In December, volunteers were out finishing our trail change by Ascutney Basin Road. We brought an excavator in to remove lots of rocks, trees, and cut into the side of the hill to smooth the trail. It is now much wider with a less steep approach. Im sure you will like it better than before. Please remember, the landowner behind the Reading School wants us to go around the edge of the field - follow the signs. We plan to have two cross country ski loops in the area so do not mistake them for the trail. There will also be a new groomer access from the village so do not go down the groomers trail either. Happy land-owners mean we keep our trails.Its that simple. On the South Reading side of our club trails, we had to deal with some issues caused by summer trespassers.
